Ruth Benca, MD, PhD previously served as the Chair of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of California – Irvine (UCI), and now serves as a Center for the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory fellow at UCI. She is also a professor and Chair of Psychiatry & Human Behavior at the Wake Forest School of Medicine. Dr. Benca has a broad background in basic and clinical sleep research and has served as Principal or Co-investigator on numerous projects funded by NIH and the Department of Defense over the past 25 years.
