Royals Launch Mental Health Film Series with Heads Together Campaign

Price Harry and the Duke discuss mental health

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge launched a campaign called Heads Together to open up conversations around mental health and help end stigma. Now, they are launching a 10-part film series showcasing the perspectives of different individuals and discussing their mental health was life-changing.

The #oktosay films feature a variety of people–including parents, musicians, and actors–talking about how acknowledging their mental health struggles helped them accept and manage them. The films often begin with an individual talking about the first person they opened up to about their mental health. These films emphasize the importance of speaking up and fighting the stigma against mental health issues.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry said:

“When you realise that mental health problems affect your friends, neighbours, children and spouses, the walls of judgement and prejudice around these issues begin to fall. And we all know that you cannot resolve a mental health issue by staying silent.”

Along with the film series, Heads Together recently published a survey of how people in Britain talk about their mental health. They found that only a quarter of people talked about their own mental health, but 8 out of 10 people who have talked about their mental health found those conversations helpful. When someone is struggling, talking to someone they trust about it can make a difference.
